Prayer Request

Kimberly (my partner in crime) was involved in a bad car accident yesterday afternoon. I haven't been able to talk to her yet, but it sounds like everything is okay. Praise God for watching over her and Elizabeth.

Praying for your comfort and a speedy recovery.

UPDATE: I spoke with Kimberly's mom and sister, and they reassured me that everything was fine. What a blessing!

30 Weeks

How far along?: 30 weeks.
Total weight gain: Up 4 lbs. from 2 weeks ago. ACK! Doctor is still okay with my weight gain. She commented yesterday that she's still thinking he is going to be a big boy and said that we will start monitoring his size more at 36 weeks.
How big is baby?: 3 lbs. and some change.
Maternity clothes?: Totally. My size medium t-shirts weren't cutting it anymore on the weekends so I've moved into Brandon's XLs. Much better.
Stretch marks?: None on the belly. The love handles definitely have some which is super-sad considering there is no baby back there.
Sleep?: Pretty good this week actually.
Best moment this week?: Getting to see Travis in 3D. It was such an amazing sight. We love him to pieces already!!!!
Movement?: Plenty, but I also think he is having a tougher time kung-fu fighting in there. Which is a-ok with me!
Food cravings?: I did have an Arby's outing this week - it was so good. I might have thrown in a cherry turnover for good measure.
Labor signs?: None.
Belly button in or out?: Flat.
What I miss: Bending down.
What I'm looking forward to: First baby shower in Lubbock tomorrow. I'm so excited to see all of my family that hasn't seen me at all during the pregnancy - boy are they in for a shocker. :)
Milestone: Got T's bedding in. Looks amazing. Will share pics once we've got a few more things in place. His nursery is definitely coming together!!!

XOXO,
Gara

Partner in Crime

While there is no doubt that pregnancy is an amazing blessing from God, pregnancy is also a pretty crazy experience. I have been so blessed to have great friends that have gone through it before (Julie, Alicia, Brooke, Amanda, Katy, etc.), great friends that I am looking forward to guiding as they are just getting started (Emily), and one great friend to experience it with at the same time (Kimberly).

Kimberly and I are friends from A&M, and she was a bridesmaid in my wedding (6 years and 2 days ago - yep, we celebrated our 6th anniversary on 6/21/09 - the time does fly when you are married to the man of your dreams).

I attended her wedding during law school and we occaisionally saw each other at A&M football games. We were each living our own lives in different cities. There is no doubt that God has re-connected us during this time and that we will not grow apart again.

Kimberly is currently expecting Elizabeth just 9 days before Travis is due. We are close enough that we are usually experiencing similar symptoms, anxieties, questions, excitements, etc. so it has been so awesome to have someone to chat with. As an added bonus, we have become an awesome tag-team bargain shopping duo. Sites we love include Baby Steals and Mama Bargains. We've been alternating making purchases to save on shipping and we are going to have an awesome baby stuff swap when she makes the trip to the Metroplex for my baby shower on 7/11.

I can't wait for our conversations to turn to sleeping, pooping, and crying which will mean that E and T arrived safely and healthy. I'm looking forward to E and T being fast friends just like their mamas.

K - thanks for being a resource and friend through this crazy ride called pregnancy. Love ya!

3D Ultrasound Pics

Wow!! Brandon and I got to see Travis up close yesterday using 3D ultrasound technology. How amazing. We already love this little man so much, but I think seeing him like this just made us realize it even more.

Check out his man feet - he definitely gets those from his daddy! The cord is hanging in front of his left eye and that is his little pointy elbow up by his right ear. We are getting so excited!

29 Weeks & Brandon's first rite of passage!

So this is a kinda fill-in-the-blank fun thing that I've seen on some other blogs that I'm going to try out...

How far along?: 29 weeks.
Total weight gain: Intentionally omitted. Let's just say that I haven't gotten in trouble by my doctor, but Travis sure has a love for some good fattening stuff. If he comes out with eggo hair and pepperoni rolls for fingers, I have no idea why...
How big is baby?: Books say 2.5 lbs, but I'm betting 3 lbs. We should get a better idea after our 3D ultrasound on Monday - so excited!!!!
Maternity clothes?: Most definitely. Still contemplating what I'm going to wear for the rest of the third trimester. About to outgrow two pairs of pants that Ms. Julie lent me.
Stretch marks?: None on the belly, but I'm thinking some on my bootie and thighs are hitting growth spurts of their own.
Sleep?: Umm, decent. Still getting up to pee a few times a night and my hips get pretty sore. THANK GOD FOR THE SNOOGLE AND A/C.
Best moment this week?: Going to childbirthing class last Sunday. I now have lots of new things to worry about. Brandon and I only got the giggles one time so I was pretty proud of us. I know he is going to be my rock during the whole labor process.
Movement?: T went nutty early in the week - lots of flailing movements, but I think he is hitting a growth spurt now and has gotten more into his routine. Although he was pretty active around 3 am last night.
Food cravings?: Well, dad and I made homemade waffles last night for dinner. If you aren't seeing a trend here, then you need some glasses. :)
Labor signs?: None.
Belly button in or out?: Flat.
What I miss: I haven't really missed anything, but I am looking forward to Potbelly and Coffee when Travis arrives.
What I'm looking forward to: 3D Ultrasound on MONDAY!!!
Milestone: Does outgrowing pants count? :(

A few weeks ago we put together the crib. I use the term "we" very loosely. :) We really weren't expecting it for a few more weeks, but it just happened to be in when we were finishing up our registry. We thought about just leaving it in the box for a little while longer (LIKE FOR A MILLISECOND), but then we had to put it together LIKE RIGHT THAT SECOND. A buddy of mine told us if we could reach to just put it on the lowest setting from the outset so we didn't have to disassemble it later on. We wanted to try this so we got to work only to find out that the instructions did not work on the lowest setting. VERY FRUSTRATING to say the least! Thankfully, the people at Lone Star Baby were awesome and were able to help us figure out the way that it needed to go. It looks great, and I'm glad that we will not have to move it in the future.

Action shot:

I mostly laid on the twin bed in the room and watched. Too hard to get back up. ;)

Here it is:

Try to ignore everything else around the crib including my lovely hairdo. :)

Crafts with Lovey

It is an understatement to say that our folks are all pretty excited for Travis' arrival. Brandon's mom has kept us fed with lots of home cooking, Brandon's dad has kept us entertained and served as brute strength when we needed to move some furniture, Brandon's dad's fiancee has made sure that we've eaten Del Frisco's twice during my pregnancy, my dad has helped with a ton of home improvement projects, my step-dad has kept busy working to fund mom's shopping and babysitting the animals so mom can come help us out, and my mom has done much of my nesting for me and has gone into crafts overload.

She was in town this weekend. While I was volunteering for JL on Saturday, mom and Brandon were at home working on some crafts. Here is her handy work!!! This is the most macho snugglie every made and T's very first personalized onesie. I got Brandon to take a picture of me sitting at the sewing machine, but I feel too guilty posting it. Plus, mom had to spend 45 minutes undoing my handiwork. :)

We love all of our parents sooo much. What amazing parental role models they are for us as we start this adventure. Travis is going to have the very best Pepper, Pops, Nana, Grandpa, Pop, and Lovey around!!

T's bedding

Well, I'm one day shy of 28 weeks. Can't believe it. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon as well as my gestational diabetes test. Say a prayer that I pass. Healthy food and this pregnancy just do not mix so for Brandon's sake let's hope the doctor does not take away my eggos. We start going back to the doctor every 2 weeks now - I've heard that really makes the third trimester fly by.

Several have asked about Travis' nursery. It is a work in progress. I'll definitely post some pics when it gets closer, but I can show you the fabrics that we selected for the bedding. A dear friend in Austin is making it for us - I can't wait to see it. It will be sweet and manly. :) What a combo.

The print on the bottom left is the main print, the stripe in the top left is the dust ruffle, the print on the bottom right is just an accent, and the other three make the bumper. We are having lots of fun finding western accents for our little buckaroo.

Gara

1st Day of Third Trimester (and a catch up post)

I really love reading blogs but posting on our own blog - not so much. I'm going to try to do better as we have lots of exciting and life-changing events in our future.

Just to catch you up:

Brandon and I will have been married 6 years on June 21st! We were college sweethearts (Whoop!) and got married the summer before we started law school together in Lubbock. I love him more every day! We got out of law school in May of 2006 and have been practicing attorneys for almost 3 years. We live in Arlington and both work in downtown Fort Worth. We have a cat named Angel and are expecting our first son on September 4th.

We are so excited. Today marks the first day of the last trimester of this pregnancy. We have so much to do, but are so excited about meeting our little guy.

Here is a scan of our 12 week ultrasound:

and our anatomy ultrasound at 19 weeks:

We were so excited when we found out that we were having a boy. His name is Travis Brandon Hill. I'm thrilled to be able to carry on my maiden name, and T-man will have his daddy's first name as his middle name (just like Brandon does).

I'll try to post pics here from time to time during this last trimester (mmm, 93 days to go), and I hope to be able to use this as a way to introduce Travis to the world.

Xoxo,
Gara
