Modified Mommy Memory

Our heavenly father has given us parents the gift of selective memory.  New mommies soon after forget the pain associated with labor (how else would we have more kids?) and tonight my prayer is that this is how I remember bedtime at our house with our two and four year olds.  Not the gnashing of teeth, the umpteenth potty break, the "one more book" for the 10th time, the march your booty back to bed routine, the ol' parental request switcheroo, or the selfish "won't they just go to bed" looks by us.  Bedtime is books and snuggles and "hug and kiss" and Jesus Loves Me until we are hoarse and praying with and over the biggest blessings in our lives.  Thank you, Jesus!

First Day of School!

So today (finally!) was the first day of school at the Hill household.  Travis and Maryn will be going on Tues/Thurs, and Travis goes on Friday for big kid science day.  I sure am gonna miss these guys, but have been fantasizing about some quality work/me/errand/possibly work-out time for a while now so I'm excited too!  We are really excited about their new school (Park Row Christian Academy) and can't wait to see what great times they have there this year!

RG turns 2!

Thanks for letting us celebrate with you!

Young Chef's Academy with Pepper

We are super blessed and grateful that our families have bought into our mentality of experience based gifts!  We definitely make sure they have a few things to unwrap but most of their gift budgets are spent on zoo memberships, aquarium passes, vacations, etc. and we couldn't be happier.  We are doubly stoked when they also take pictures of their outings!  Pepper bought Travis a Grandparent and Grandkid class at Young Chefs Academy in Fort Worth, TX for his fourth birthday gift.  She came and got him and off they went!  They made French Toast with homemade strawberry syrup and fresh whipped cream and Egg and Cheese Casserole with Salsa Verde.

Pepper wrote this funny story from the day:
"The Adult Chefs were making whipped cream.  The Chef had Travis measure out 2 tablespoons of confectioner’s sugar and pour each spoonful into a small yellow bowl.  She then wanted him to pour the yellow bowl of sugar into the large bowl of cream.  She used a poor choice of words, because she told Travis to “put the whole thing in there”.  So he did, yellow bowl and all."

Next time we will tell Pepper to just keep driving .....  :)
